About
Excalimate is a keyframe animation tool built on top of Excalidraw.
Excalidraw is great for sketching diagrams. But what if those diagrams could move?
Excalimate gives you a full animation timeline where you can add keyframes for opacity, position, scale, rotation, and draw progress (arrow/line draw-on effects). You get a camera system with pan/zoom animation and aspect ratio control. When you're done, export as MP4, WebM, GIF, or animated SVG.
Key features:
Full Excalidraw editor — draw, edit, resize, text, arrows, everything Excalidraw does
Keyframe animation — opacity, position, scale, rotation, draw progress
Visual timeline — per-element tracks, clip markers, scrubbing
Sequence reveal — stagger-reveal multiple elements with one click
Camera frame — animated pan/zoom, aspect ratio control
Export — MP4 (H.264), WebM (VP9), GIF, animated SVG
E2E encrypted sharing — share via URL, encryption key stays in the hash fragment
MCP server — AI agents can create scenes, add animations, and preview live
Dark mode — full light/dark theme support
The MCP server is what makes this really interesting. Install it with npx @excalimate/mcp-server, connect your AI assistant, and watch it create animated diagrams while you see every change in real-time. It's like pair-programming but for motion design.
