Inspired by the beloved, no-nonsense text editors of the past, Only Text focuses entirely on doing one thing perfectly: letting you view and edit plain text files. No markdown formatting, no color-coding, and no distractions. Just your words. Only Text is free to use, without ads or intrusive subscriptions.
While Quick Look is technically a feature of iOS, it often fails when you need it most. If you download a text file from an email, the system frequently kicks you over to Safari, which offers no way to preview the content or trigger Quick Look. You're left in a frustrating loop of saving files to iCloud only to realize you still can't open them.
I went looking for a dedicated text editor to solve this, but I didn't need a markdown powerhouse or a syntax-highlighting workstation. I just wanted a clean, reliable way to view my text. My search eventually led me to Textor, a minimalist utility that was discontinued and removed from the App Store years ago. However, the original developer, Louis D'hauwe, archived the code on GitHub. From those roots, OnlyText was born. This is a lightweight, no-nonsense tool built for speed and clarity above all else. The core mission of Only Text is simplicity.
