I built NoteLace because I kept bouncing between Notion (heavy, always online) and a folder of plain text files (no links, weak search). It sits in between: real Markdown with live preview, wiki-style links and backlinks between notes, instant full-text search, tags, notebooks, version history, and separate workspaces for things like work and personal. It's a paid app, €5/month or €48/year, with a 14-day trial that doesn't ask for a card. If you ever stop paying you keep full read access and can export everything back to Markdown, so you're never locked in.
