ReqKey is API key infrastructure for teams shipping a public or partner-facing API: key authentication, usage credits, rate limiting, and request analytics — the four things every API team ends up building by hand.
The integration is one call. Inside your own middleware, reqkey.verify() checks the caller's key, deducts a credit from that consumer's pool, enforces their rate limit, and records the request. Your code decides what happens next. ReqKey never sits in front of your API — no proxy, no gateway, no DNS change. Validation averages under 5ms; check plus ingest is under 10ms end to end.
Credits pool per consumer rather than per key, so a customer's second key doesn't hand them a second balance, and balances stay synced across regions. You also get shadow limits, controlled overage, plans, alerts, and per-request logs with status, latency and location.
