OpenShorts is an open source AI video platform that packs three tools into one app.
1. Clip Generator. Drop in a long video, a podcast, webinar, livestream, vlog or interview, and OpenShorts finds the moments worth clipping, reframes them to 9:16 with face tracking, burns in animated subtitles and exports shorts ready for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. It also dubs clips into other languages.
2. AI Shorts (UGC video creator). Describe your product or paste a URL and it generates a marketing video with an AI actor: script, lip-synced voiceover, b-roll and TikTok-style subtitles. Two cost modes, roughly $0.65 or $2 per video.
3. YouTube Studio. AI thumbnails with face overlay, titles, descriptions and direct publishing to YouTube.
It ships with an MCP server and a REST API, so AI agents can generate and publish shorts on their own.
Self-hosting is genuinely free and always will be: clone the repo, run Docker Compose, bring your own Gemini / ElevenLabs / fal.ai keys, no watermark and no limits. The hosted version runs on NVIDIA GPUs and starts at $12/mo, with a free plan.
