Light Pollution Map

Light Pollution Map is a free, interactive dark sky finder built on satellite night-light data (VIIRS). Click anywhere on the world map to instantly see the Bortle Scale class and an approximate Sky Quality Meter (SQM) reading for that exact location.

Beyond the core light pollution layer, the map includes tools for stargazers and astrophotographers: certified Dark Sky Places, an aurora probability layer powered by NOAA forecasts, moon phase and golden hour info, a day/night terminator overlay, location history, and a feature to analyze a photo of the sky for brightness. It's designed to help people quickly find the darkest, least light-polluted spots near them for stargazing, viewing the Milky Way, or planning astrophotography sessions.
