About

Munen is a screen-time app for iPhone with one unusual property: it remembers how yesterday went. Every night it scores your full day on your device — how much you used the apps you marked as distracting, app switching, late-night scrolling, long sessions — and places you in one of five zones. Your zone sets today's friction: the length of the pause before a distracting app opens, and how long a "breather" lasts once you continue. A rough day earns a firmer pause and a shorter breather; a good one it's a tap, two seconds, and it's out of your way. Nothing is blocked outright unless you asked for it — a focus session you start, or the hard-day contract you sign in a calm moment. No guilt, no punishment for a bad week.

Munen adjusts your friction the next morning, not in the moment — and that's deliberate. Punishing you while you're failing is what blockers do, and it's why they get deleted. Munen scores your whole day overnight (usage, app switching, late-night scrolling, long sessions, and how hard you fought the shield) and starts each morning with a new contract: firmer pauses after a rough day, down to a tap and two seconds after a good one. You always know why, because the score is transparent — no black box deciding you were "bad."

Your usage data and journal never leave the phone; an account is only needed for subscriptions and the optional AI features. The core is free, and it was built by one person. Launched in August.
