❤️ A gender reveal powered by a little code and a lot of love
When my friend learned he was going to be a father, organizing a gender reveal party became his top priority. But there was one major problem: his parents live in Morocco, and they couldn't travel for the event — especially heartbreaking since this would be their first grandchild.
That's when I thought: "Why not create something truly special that could bridge this gap?"
As a developer, I built a custom website that:
Allows the person who knows the baby's gender (doctor or trusted friend) to securely submit it
Generates a private link with a countdown timer
Brings the entire family together for the big reveal simultaneously, regardless of location
The results were beyond what I imagined. When the countdown hit zero and the screen turned blue, his parents were completely shocked (they were convinced it would be a girl!). There were tears, laughter, and despite being thousands of miles apart, everyone shared this magical moment together.
What started as a one-off project for a friend has evolved into something I'm now excited to share with other families facing similar distances:
