Markdown Preview Editor is a free, open-source (MIT) Markdown editor that runs entirely in your browser. No account, no backend, no tracking or cookies: documents stay on your device, and external images and links in a document are not loaded until you allow them.

Write on the left and see the result on the right with synchronized scrolling. Work in tabs with separate undo history and drag & drop files or whole folders. It supports GitHub-Flavored Markdown, KaTeX math, Mermaid diagrams (flowchart, sequence, Gantt) and syntax highlighting for 35+ languages. Export to a self-contained HTML file, PDF or .md. Works on mobile, meets WCAG 2.2 AA, has light and dark themes and a UI in 15 languages. You can also self-host it on any static host.
