About

Backup Notion makes a copy of your Notion workspace on a schedule and sends it to cloud storage you own. You connect Notion, connect a storage account, pick a folder and choose daily, weekly or monthly backups. After that it runs on its own, and you can start a backup by hand at any time.

Each backup is a dated zip archive with your pages and nested subpages as clean Markdown files, your databases, and the original images, media and attachments, arranged to match your workspace. Database properties, relations and people come through in each page's frontmatter. Every archive also includes an HTML viewer that you open in a browser to browse and search the whole workspace offline, without Notion.

Backups go to Google Drive, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2 or Nextcloud. Backup Notion processes your data in transit and keeps no backup data at rest on its own servers. The files sit in your storage under your agreement with that provider, so they stay where they are if you cancel.

Access is kept narrow. You sign in with Notion, choose which teamspaces and pages to share, and the access you grant is read-only, so Backup Notion cannot edit or delete your content. You can revoke access from the dashboard, from Notion's connection settings, or from your storage provider. Each run leaves a record of when it ran, how many pages and files it covered, the archive size and whether your storage confirmed delivery. If a backup fails, you get an email.

There are two self-serve plans. Personal is $9 a month for single-member Notion accounts. Teams is $20 a month for workspaces with teamspaces and several members, and adds page comments, a raw JSON copy of every page and a change log showing what changed since the last backup. Annual billing costs ten times the monthly price. An Enterprise tier with invoicing, custom terms, seat and permission controls and priority onboarding is available on request. Both self-serve plans start with a 14-day trial; a card is required.

Backup Notion also offers free converters that turn a public Notion page into Word, HTML, PDF, Excel or Markdown, with no sign-up. The site has practical guides on Notion's built-in export, what it leaves out, and how to test a backup.

Backup Notion is independent and not affiliated with Notion. It is built by Sebastien Couture.
