About
SpotRecall helps you get back to that page you know you saw (a GitHub issue, an error fix, a product you compared) without digging through browser history.
It indexes the pages you visit and lets you recall them from a fast command palette (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+K):
- Keyword + meaning: BM25 keyword search finds exact terms like error codes, versions and URLs; an on-device multilingual AI model adds semantic search so you can describe what you remember in your own words.
- Cross-language search: query in English, Japanese or Chinese and find pages written in another language (Chrome 138+ with the on-device Translation API).
- Keep tabs tidy: closes inactive tabs when you exceed your chosen limit. Pages are indexed first and stay searchable. Active, pinned, grouped, audible and form-filled tabs are never closed. Reopen anything closed in the last 48 hours.
- Private and local-first: page text, titles and URLs stay in a local database on your computer. No account, cloud sync, analytics or tracking.
- You stay in control: pause capture, block sites, export a backup, or wipe everything with one click.
Free and open source (AGPL-3.0). Works in Chrome and Edge.
