About

eggtimer.app

Eggtimer.app is a free online timer with shareable countdown links, custom routines, an MCP server for AI assistants, and webhooks for automation. You can use it for anything from a five-minute break, to a Pomodoro session, to a cooking sequence, or even use it as a server timer that tells another app when to act.

Start a timer by typing a time

Enter 5m, 1h20m, or 9pm and press Enter. You can go straight to eggtimer.app/5m or in your browser tab, just type 15.eggtimer.app or 1h.eggtimer.app to make starting a countdown as quick as typing an address.

Make a routine you can share

Use the built-in Pomodoro and Tabata timers, a stopwatch, or create your own sequence of labeled/ named stages. Add work/rest cycles, intervals, colors, a ring or progress-bar display, and a finished! message. Recipes can be edited visually, exported as JSON, shared with a link, and remixed by a friend or an AI assistant.

Give AI assistants a timer tool

Most innovatively, eggtimer.app supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so AI clients can discover timer presets, validate a duration, and return a usable countdown or timer recipe link. The public MCP endpoint is eggtimer.app/api/mcp and it needs no account or API key. The same features are available through HTTP API, OpenAPI reference, and recipe schema.

Run a timer after the browser closes

For automation, you can create a private workspace and schedule a real server timer by duration or with a specific date and time. The saved deadline continues independently of your browser. You can read its status, cancel a pending timer, or send a completion event to Zapier via Catch Hook. MCP clients are able to schedule and manage eggtimer.app server timers via eggtimer.app/api/mcp/server using a workspace API key. This makes a timer useful inside an agent task or in a workflow.

Keep timer links useful

Share a reusable timer or recipe setup so someone else can start their own session. Copy an individual timer’s URL to reopen the same timer somewhere else. Recipe step links can point to a specific stage. Authenticated server timer links work across devices so that new countdown timers are kept separate from any links to an existing run.

A small app for everyday use

Eggtimer.app can be installed as a progressive web app (PWA), with an offline shell for browser timers and recipes. (One limitation is that browser sound needs an active page and a device that allows playback; server timers send events and cannot ring a native phone alarm)

Access and privacy

Browser timers and public link-building tools are free; no signup needed. Server automation is a free, limited beta: 50 new timers per workspace, per day, ten at the same time, and deadlines up to 30 days ahead (subject to shared service limits). No email or payment is needed to create a workspace.

For people, makers, and workflows

Use eggtimer.app for focus sessions, study, cooking, classroom activities, presentation stages, workout intervals (including the famous "beep test"!), or any task that should continue once a previous. countdown finishes. Start with a simple link, build a reusable routine, or connect the API and MCP tools to customize your own workflow. Zapier integration is currently invite-only; direct Catch Hook delivery is available through the server timer API.
