About
Memories Fix repairs the photos and videos you get from Snapchat's "Download My Data" export, right in your browser.
The problem: after exporting, Memories often show the download date instead of the day they were taken, and the location is only listed in a JSON file (json/memories_history.json), not in the files themselves. Imported into Apple Photos, Google Photos or a camera roll, years of Memories end up sorted by the wrong date.
How it works:
- Drop all the mydata~....zip parts at once (no need to unzip), or choose an already-unzipped folder.
- Each photo and video that can be matched to memories_history.json gets its capture date and GPS location written into the file: EXIF DateTimeOriginal (with time-zone offset) and GPS for JPEG photos, creation time and location for MP4/MOV videos, without re-encoding the video.
- Every matched file is renamed to its date (e.g. 2024-07-14_20-30-05_....jpg), so any folder sorts correctly.
- Anything that can't be matched is kept unchanged and listed in report.csv, so you can see exactly what happened.
- Dates are written in your device's time zone with the UTC offset; you can pick UTC or another zone.
Privacy: your export is opened and fixed inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and it never asks for your Snapchat login.
Big libraries: multiple ZIP parts are read directly. In Chrome or Edge on a computer the result is streamed into a single ZIP on your disk; Safari and Firefox get it in parts of about 1.5 GB. Phones are not supported for full libraries.
