About

I built Melovance out of two things I love: playing piano and software engineering. I wanted practice to feel more interactive, with useful feedback from what I actually played.

Connect a compatible MIDI keyboard, play a practice passage, and review your performance. Melovance analyzes note accuracy, timing, note duration, early releases, dynamics, and available hand-specific results. It uses that detail to help you decide what to work on in your next attempt.

Melovance runs as a native app on macOS (Apple silicon), iPad, and Linux. The Windows version is coming soon. A compatible MIDI keyboard is required.

You can use Melovance without a subscription. The free plan includes an interactive score and keyboard, practice history and progress, core performance insights, and five practice analyses per day. One analysis follows one completed practice attempt. Optional paid plans add higher daily limits and features such as detailed musical feedback and spoken coaching.

Today, Melovance is focused on piano. Longer term, I want to bring this approach to other MIDI instruments. That is a direction I want to explore, rather than something the app supports today.

If you are learning piano, returning after a break, or looking for more direction between lessons, I would love for you to try it during a real practice session. Tell me which feedback helped, and what you wished it explained better.
