About
Loquus is a language-learning app for iPhone, iPad and Android, with free lessons on its website.
It teaches 14 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, English, Dutch, Belgian Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Hindi. Spanish runs from A1 to C2, and the other courses run from A1 to B2.
Lessons are built around real situations, such as ordering at a café, a pharmacy visit or checking into a hotel, with conversations voiced by different characters. The app includes:
Spaced, adaptive review that brings back the words you miss
Explanations for wrong answers that say what your answer actually means
A dictionary and a phrasebook
A Grammar Center and conjugation tables
A placement test
26 Arcade games for vocabulary, listening, grammar and conversation
The Spanish course alone has 1,463 lessons, 28,617 cards, 737 situations, 332 conversations and 2,383 conjugation tables.
The website has 25 free lessons per language, no account needed. In the app, 3 lessons a day and all reference tools are free. Loquus Plus adds unlimited lessons and the Arcade.
