About

Cameleon is a Safari extension for the Mac that recolours any website to one of five skins. Three are dark, for reading a bright site at night. Two are light, which is the part a dark mode cannot do: a site that is already dark, turned to warm paper or to sage and navy.

It changes colour only. No type moves, no layout changes and nothing is hidden, so a page keeps the shape you already know how to read, and photographs are left as they are.

Every colour it puts on a page is re-lit until it reads at least 4.5:1 against the furthest surface in the skin: on a Wikipedia article, 14 elements fail that bar in the site's own colours, and none do skinned.

A skin chosen for a site is remembered for that site, and everywhere else follows one skin for the Mac's light appearance and another for its dark. Shortcuts actions, a Focus filter and an optional menu bar item can set a skin too.

The extension has no networking code and no permission to open a connection. No account, no analytics, no adverts.

$3.99 once, after a seven-day trial. macOS 13 or later. Made in Ireland by Caddora.
