Hey, I'm launching ReceiptSync — an app that scans your receipts and automatically syncs them to Google Sheets.
Let me tell you why I built this.
The problem I couldn't solve
For years, I tried to be good at tracking expenses. I'd start a spreadsheet in January, motivated and organized. I'd log every receipt for maybe two weeks. Then life gets busy, receipts pile up, and suddenly it's March and I have a drawer full of crumpled paper I'll "deal with later."
Tax time was always chaos. Digging through shoeboxes, squinting at faded receipts, trying to remember what a $47 charge from three months ago was for. I'd spend entire weekends just catching up on bookkeeping I should've done all year.
I tried other apps. Some were too complicated — built for enterprise teams with features I'd never use. Others charged per scan, which felt ridiculous. Most of them locked my data in their own system, forcing me to export CSV files and manually import them into my spreadsheet anyway.
None of them solved the actual problem: the friction of getting receipt data into a spreadsheet was too high, so I just didn't do it.
The solution: remove all the friction
So I spent six months building ReceiptSync. The concept is dead simple:
Scan it → Done.
That's the entire workflow. You take a photo of a receipt, AI extracts all the important information, and it lands in your Google Sheet automatically. No typing. No exporting. No extra steps.
By the time you put your phone back in your pocket, the expense is already logged.
How it actually works
Open the app and snap a photo — The camera opens instantly. Take a picture of your receipt. That's your only job.
AI extracts the data — Within seconds, the app pulls out vendor name, date, total amount, tax, and category. It works on pretty much any receipt format — restaurants, retail stores, gas stations, online order confirmations, even handwritten ones.
Data syncs to your Google Sheet — A new row appears in your spreadsheet automatically. No buttons to click, no exports to run. It just happens.
Original image saved — The receipt photo is stored alongside the data, so you always have proof if you need it for taxes, warranties, or reimbursements.
Total time from receipt in hand to expense logged: about 3 seconds.
